FURminator®

The FURminator® tool quickly removes the loose, dead, undercoat hair that's the underlying source of shedding and the allergies and cleanliness problems associated with it.
The FURminator® can reduce shedding up to 60-80%, leaving a healthier, shinier coat that allows the skin to breathe better. A well-groomed coat dries faster, exudes less odor, has less chance of infection, helps reduce hairballs in cats, and makes it easier to see ticks and fleas.
FAQ’s:
Q. Can this treatment help prevent hairballs in my cat?
A. Yes. In fact in the April 2005 issue of Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine's newsletter for cat owners, the FURminator® deShedding tool was ranked among the best for getting rid of excess hair that causes hairballs.
Q. How often should the treatment be performed?
A. Undercoat grows back after about 4-6 weeks. You will see the best results applying the treatment on a monthly basis to reduce shedding.
Q. Does the FURminator® deShedding tool cut the hair?
A. No, the deShedding tool does not cut hair, it just gently pulls out the fluffy undercoat, leaving the topcoat shiny and undamaged.
Q. On which dog breeds should the FURminator® deShedding tool be used?
A. The tool will work on all shedding dogs and even on some traditionally "hair-cut-only" dogs, like Terriers and Spaniels to coarsen the coat and blend clipper tracks. A few breeds that are typically not good candidates for the FURminator® Shed-less treatment are Poodles, Shitzus, Maltese, Bichons, Portuguese Water Dogs, and Irish Water Spaniels.
Q. Does the FURminator® shed-less treatment work on terriers?
A. Yes, and in addition to removing the undercoat and loose hair, the treatment also offers some additional benefits for terriers. Terriers have a naturally coarse coat, and many of the show dogs are hand "striped" to keep this texture in their topcoats. But using a clipper "softens" the coat, which is not desirable. Using the FURminator® deShedding tool on a regular basis, however, will help retain that coarse terrier coat on dogs that have had their hair trimmed with clippers. Schnauzers can also develop a darker color "stripe" down their backs from clippers. The deShedding tool will help eliminate this "stripe" and help return the coat to its original color.
